Chocolate from South America . Most fine cocoa comes from here today. In Ecuador, small farmers organize themselves in cooperatives and also produce the chocolate at the same time. Pacari and Cacaoyere are the result of their work. Domori has his plantation Hacienda San José here, where he has grown again almost extinct varieties of the Criollo bean. It was not for nothing that the natural scientist Carl von Linné called the cocoa tree Theobroma cacao "food of the gods".
