3 chocolates from sustainability projects

Chocolates from the region of Vraem, Peru

Apart from the fact that these three chocolates taste very good to us we would like to contribute with the sales of the three project chocolates as set to the environmental protection in the Peruvian Amazon area, in order to work against the negative developments locally concretely and actively:
" The destruction of the habitat of many kinds by fire clearance
" The destruction of age-old cocoa tree existence
" The farmers and their families locally are little sensitized for the long-term advantages of a lasting agriculture and decide due to short term economic interest for the deforestation of their cocoa trees.

Meybol is herself from the poor regions of Peru and has been able to initiate many projects in her old homeland over the last few years:

Ailla project chocolate to protect the biodiversity of the rainforest:  For this purpose, we plant various woody plants that match the original biodiversity of the region and thus help to maintain the balance of flora and fauna.

Misky: A project chocolate to communicate sustainability in Peruvian cacao cultivation: Meybol Cacao gets in touch with local farmers and families and sensitize them to the value of their trees, their work and the sustainable use of nature. We try to educate them that farming with cacao is the most sustainable and best solution for them in the long run, both ecologically and economically. This should lead to the preservation of the rare original cacao trees, a cultural treasure of Peru.

Inti: Project chocolate for reforestation of the rainforest: Meybol Cacao goes with cocoa experts to the very regions where the precious primitive cocoa trees are on the verge of extinction and we strive to preserve this genetic heritage by actively supporting reforestation.

DIRECT TRADE

In concrete terms, Direct Trade means that Meybol Cacao pays local farmers in Peru a fair price for their high-quality cocoa beans. This allows us to ensure that they can live decent lives and create a better future for themselves and their families. It's about more than just Fairtrade Seal. Because we work closely with our farmers and set common standards - side by side, equal and sustainable. Read also the Spiegel report: Real Fair ? among others about Meybol Estendorfer-Moran
