Sugar-free chocolate

Sugar-free chocolate, low-sugar chocolate or chocolate without added sugar are not only suitable for diabetics, but also for all other health-conscious sweet tooth or people who simply want to live sugar-free.

What is the difference? And that's where it gets legal and therefore complicated. Most of us, when talking about "sugar-free chocolate" mean that no refined sugar or cane sugar should be added or contained in the chocolate. The EU legislator sees it differently. According to the regulations, fructose or lactose contained in chocolate is also sugar that must be declared.

Since cocoa fruit contains fructose, and (almost) always more than 0.5g per 100g, it is therefore by definition not considered "sugar-free", and thus there is actually no such thing as "sugar-free chocolate". Up to 5g of sugar per 100g, chocolate can be called "low-sugar".

In"chocolate without added sugar" no additional sweetening sugar, honey, etc. is added. but contains only the natural sugar content contained in the cocoa bean. This applies, for example, to the chocolates made from 100% cocoa . Chocolates with milk instead of sugar may also not be declared as "chocolate without added sugar", because in the added milk sugar is contained.

Therefore, please do not be confused.

Order good sugar-free chocolate and chocolate without sugar - as most of us are looking for - here in the store and do not miss out on the beneficial effects of real cocoa.
