Mini Bar Selection 81% Experimental Selection Dark Chocolate - 6 x 3 dark mini squares

Six varieties

The Mini Bar Selection Experimental Edition consists of 81% dark Chocolate from Ecuador, from Piedra de Plata in Manabi from old Nacional cocoa. It belongs to the Heirloom Cacaos, which are still single-origin but extremely rare.

Heirloom cacaos are characterized by their special variety of flavours, which are lost in the more modern, more resistant varieties because they are not needed. The industry mainly uses the cocoa for light milk chocolate and usually combines the bars with other flavors and, above all, with a lot of sugar.

The experiment with these cocoa varieties is that the cocoa is matured in completely different barrels, similar to wine or whisky. The cocoa absorbs the taste of the material and develops corresponding aromas.

P.S.: Have you spotted the little cocoa ghost on the packaging yet? It looks after the coveted cocoa pods and is over 5300 years old, just as old as the Nacional cocoa for this Chocolate. The spirit comes from the Valdivian culture. They lived around the same time as the Mayo-Chinchipe culture, where traces of cocoa dating back thousands of years have been discovered.

To'ak's packaging is designed by local artists. The packaging  for the  Mini Bar Selection was created by Maria Dolores Salgado in collaboration with To'ak.
